I just don't understand why you didn't go to Branson this week.

Skittles...yes, "mass transit" was a poor choice of words....."buses" is what i meant.

Jen....part of the reason i didn't go to Branson is cuz i am contemplating going to Nashville. smile Don't think i can/want to have 2 big trips in a year. (note: a "big trip" is any time i'm gone from my house for 2 or more days.)

"Probably no vacation again this year for us. Since we moved to a tiny town we don't have dog sitters - and ours wouldn't do well at a kennel. Even if they would, we would have to drive over 20 miles to find one."

Skittles, this is one of the biggest reasons my husband and I bought a camper a few years ago. It's nearly impossible for us to leave our two with anyone else and we live in a very small town in a very rural area with few choices. Now the dogs get to come with whenever we go anywhere. It's been a game changer for us.

Where I am supposed to be
Spending most summer weekends in our camper at the seasonal campground where we keep our trailer. Going on a cruise between Christmas and New Year's Eve.

Complycated - we have discussed buying a small camper style thing. Maybe we'll make that decision. Thanks for the suggestion.

We are doing a Viking river cruise on the Rhine from Amsterdam to Switzerland in mid-June. Really looking forward to it!

Any where but work
Late July Holland America Alaska Cruise with 2 nights in Denali State Park and Train back to Anchorage, married 38 years; this trip is to mark our past 35th anniversary. Excited and nervous all at the same time, we don't travel like this at all; we are more weekend camping type of people. In September/October we should be celebrating the birth of our first grandchildren (twins!) so I need to reserve some vaca time for that event! Then in December going to the NFR in Vegas with my daughter, she's been before so I am letting her do the planning. This is an exciting vacation year for us. We have six dogs to take into consideration, plan to farm them out in pairs to family and a kennel for the cruise trip.

We're doing the usual family beach vacation in June and then back to the beach in July for a softball tournament.

That sounds wonderful! How long is the actual cruise?

I love the NFR. Better yet - I love the Cowboy Christmas Shopping event.

Sunday to Sunday. The cruise leaves Amsterdam and stops at Kinderdijk, Netherlands; Cologne, Koblenz, Rudesheim, Heidelber, & Speyer Germany; Strasbourg, France; & Breisach, Germany. The cruise ends at Basel, Switzerland. Then we spend 2 extra days in Lucerne, Switzerland before flying home.

Anacortes, WA in June to island hop and whale watch, with a day in Victoria for high tea. Then 2 weeks in September for the Fulton County Fair, family time and (hopefully) a train ride to Chicago for a day trip.

(If anybody has any good thoughts/things to know about Nashville, i'm all ears.)

I have family in Franklin...let me know if you want me to request details for you.

I will be planning two or more Friday-Monday-type primitive camping trips filled with kayaking and snorkeling in my happy place...the springs and Santa Fe River in Florida. smile
