This is where I went and it helped a ton in my research. https://nces.ed.gov/ccd/schoolsearch/.. that's the National Center for Education Statistics website and you can search by school and it will show you enrollment characteristics where you will see free and reduced lunch eligibility.

Yeager, Was not aware of https://nces.ed.gov/ccd/schoolsearch/. Great resource. Thanks for the link.

I have also used http://www.greatschools.org/ or the Department of Education in your particular state. However if you are a multistate bank it is a bit laborious going to each state's DOE website.

This was the site our FDIC examiner provided to us a few years back

I've used all of the above, but my preference is having an excel spreadsheet for my state (typically from the department of education). It seems much faster and I have the ones in my assessment area highlighted.

I use Public School Review for individual sites. I rarely use NCES because the percentages aren't calculated and that's just an extra step for me to do. Some call it lazy, I call it efficient. smile

Does https://www.publicschoolreview.com/ allow you to view by district?

It does not. Determining district rate is the only time I use NCES.

http://datacenter.kidscount.org/ is another really good resource. You can email them at kidscount@cppp.org to request a list tailored to your AA. They sent us a list per county, campus name, school address, student count and % of free/reduced lunch.

During our last exam, the examiners recommended Schooldigger.com. I looked at a particular school district in Texas today on both the school digger site and NCES. There is a huge difference in the numbers. confused So, now which one do I use? Anyone else have this issue?

I provided the data I rely upon to make my decision to my examiners. They never questioned it. I suggest picking a horse and riding it, don't bounce between sources.

I like that thought! It is just that one site has a school listed at 64% and the other 21%. That's a big difference.

That's a little odd, I checked a handful between the state education reports I use and schooldigger out of curiosity and they were all very close.

I agree with Jen. That's a huge difference. I suspect an error on the part of one or the other. I use Public School Review. Maybe use that as a 3rd source to verify either Schooldigger or NCES for that school in particular.

NCES usually updates in August of every year, but have lagged behind on occasion. NCES is my go to resource because you can download schools in a certain area. I wrote an algorithm utilizing the haversine formula to determine if a schools latitude, and longitude fell within that radius around the branch. Then if so the algorithm would spit out the FRL%, Title-One school wide status, FFIEC census income designation, and generate a google map for the branch to use.

Sounds like a great tool. How many branches do you have?

I like School Digger for my reports. This site is easy to use, especially for identifying school lunch programs.

In one state where we have branch offices, some school are participating in The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. My limited understanding of the program is that 100% of the students receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. No household application is required. So my question is how do you determine the % of students that are truly eligible for F and R meals if there are no applications and no income requirement?

CEP schools are in high poverty areas, where it is assumed most of the students would qualify for aid, so they just give the free lunch to all the students. If the school qualifies as CEP, it should qualify for CRA credit as >50% LMI.

I just provide the information from the USDA linked below showing CEP is only for schools/districts with high poverty levels.
