My wife and I are on two completely different planes here. I detest Miracle Whip. I don't like the taste, don't like the texture, just...yuck! She feels the same about mayo. So we keep our fridge stocked with both.

What say you, mayo or Miracle Whip?

Mayo in a romp. Miracle Whip is nasty.....it tastes like cheap mayo with a pound of sugar dumped in it.

Way, way south.
Grew up on Miracle W-hip, but as an adult I cannot stand the stuff and now only use mayo, but with a side of horse radish mayo.

Any where but work
They each have their own place in my kitchen, depending on the recipe; they are not interchangeable. We use miracle whip on sandwiches, in deviled eggs or egg salad, inside grilled cheese sandwiches, for coleslaw dressing, on soda crackers with a slice of cheddar cheese and onion slices. I have a yummy no cook corn dip recipe that uses mayo and a yummy baked artichoke dip that uses mayo. Both but for different purposes at our house.

I like mayo, but it doesn't go on some things...for example, i would never, ever order a cheeseburger with mayo. Mustard goes on burgers and hot dogs.

One deer, I'd never thought to put either one inside a grilled cheese! I bet that's delish.

But mayo. Always mayo (not that I use it that often).

I was raised on Miracle Whip (actually, the store brand version of miracle whip) so that is what I prefer. My husband calls both "yucko" so we stock at most only one.

Grew up with Miracle Whip and didn't like mayo - and now I'm the opposite. Mayo all the way! Miracle Whip has a tang that I just can't get past any longer.

A properly prepared hotdog works in this order: Bun, Mayo, wiener, chili, diced onions and/or cole slaw, mustard

Growing up we had both in the fridge. My fridge only as one, and it is not miracle whip. Mayo must be Best Foods/Hellmann's. Besides, my husband said he would divorce me if I put a bottle in the fridge.

I grew up on ranch dressing on sandwiches rather than mayo or MW. Don't really use any of them now as I prefer a good whole grain mustard.

Miracle Whip is just nasty.

Dukes is the ONLY mayonnaise, if ,mayo is required.

Mustard must be VERY yellow...like Frenches. smile

I LOVE mustard.

Same with us. My wife is all about the Miracle Whip. I'm mayo - specifically Dukes Mayonnaise (it's a southern thing). I will say, though, my wife does have a couple of salad recipes (macaroni salad; potato salad) and a cucumber recipe that are pretty darn good with MW. But on a sandwich - Duke's by a mile over MW.

Isn't Miracle Whip considered a 'dressing?"...and mayo, well mayo? ;-)

I'm weird. I can use either/or. But usually opt for yellow mustard.

Technically, I think mayo is too - but don't quote me on that.

Grew up on Miracle Whip, but now I'm all about mayo! Not to mention mayo makes the best chocolate cake, thanks to my grandpa's recipe. Plus the entertainment factor of the cashier's confusion when I buy baking cocoa and mayo and say I'm making cake is pretty good too. smile

That it does Bacon! And sorry all that were asking for the recipe! I got seriously sidetracked Friday, and just got around to checking this thread a few minutes ago.

I don't have the recipe with me, but this recipe is very similar:

https://spicysouthernkitchen.com/dukes-chocolate-mayonnaise-cake/

Give it a try; there are a lot of other versions out there, but I recommend staying away from those that still ask for eggs. Mayo should remove the need for both the eggs and oil (at least in the mayo cakes I've made!).

Well I'm sure the frosting and everything helps that calorie count along! This looks like a two-layer cake, therefore double the frosting essentially. smile I don't get that fancy lol; I just make it in a cake pan, and put one layer of chocolate frosting across the top. Or, better yet, I make the cake and then use it as the base for Better Than Running Through the Sprinkler Cake (which is a lot less awkward to have the 8 and 12 year old request for their birthday cakes than what it's actually called)! laugh Of course, when it comes to that kind of cake, the calorie count skyrockets; I just close my eyes and pretend I have no knowledge of what I'm eating.

Here is a little tip on the MW. Last night I made a salad that we eat with 1000 Island dressing, only to then discover we were out of 1000. This salad does not go with Ranch. So I decided to try something and I mixed some MW with some Catalina dressing. It was not a bad substitute, and the salad was consumed.

No whataburgers at any wal mart in this area (closest target is an hour away, in texas).

Of course, there is an actual Whataburger about 300 yards from one of the nearby Wal Marts.

Yeah, but they don't sell the big bottles of ketchup / barbecue sauce at the restaurant. I've actually never seen them at Target / Walmart either - I've always had to go to HEB to get them.

You can, however, order directly from Whataburger's website. grin

I have seriously never seen it at Walmart or Target, and I don't even know what an HEB is.

I see HEB's in Texas...don't know if they're in other states or not.

LOL, UDAAP. That seriously cracked me up. And, yes, I believe it is as well.

honestly ketchup has no place near food ... unless being used as bear bait. Gross. Mustard goes on everything, especially sriracha or horseradish mustard. I am completely indifferent on mayo or MW, either is fine on a sandwich.
