How does everyone comply with the hpml appraisal requirement to verify the appraiser who signed the appraisal is on the national registry (and is active)? I thought it made more sense to verify before the appraisal is ordered because why would we order if the appraiser's license has expired? But the regulation actually makes it sound like we should verify the person who signed the appraisal is licensed so perhaps we should do the verification as part of the appraisal review process.

Do you print the screen showing the appraiser is active or do you just document that you accessed the website and verified?

Thanks

Well, since you would be using an appraiser from your approved list, if someone's license was expiring, I would hope you have a tickler to follow up prior to that date to see if you need to remove them as part of your appraiser management program.

As far as your question - whatever you decide is adequate documentation.
