This gives you plenty of time to start cracking wise about how soccer/football is rife with cheaters, only surpassed by your favorite NFL team's biggest rival. Since the USA did not make it, you will need to find a replacement country to cheer for. Do you go with an ancestral nation? A previous winner? pull for the underdog?

i'm picking Belgium, if for no other reason than they make mighty fine beer in their country...

I have to admit....i couldn't care less about whatever the current name of the pro soccer league in the U.S. is (MLS?) or European League soccer or any of that.....but i have grown to really appreciate and enjoy watching the World Cup.

RJ - yes, one game tomorrow for opening, then 2 per day for the next 2 weeks, essentially, then into the round of 16 back to one-per day...and then from the world cup we go straight to the Tour de France - once every 4 years is a true sport fans dream for back to back greatest 2 sports on the planet...

Ed - i've been watching the Thursday night darts on BBC, i have to say it is quite intriguing...possibly the craziest fans of any sport i have seen (is it even a sport?)
