It was discovered that our Loan Ops includes the customer loan number on our recorded mortgages and UCC filings. I've communicated to them that this is a Privacy issue, and we need to change the practice. Of course, they said no one has ever raised this issue before.

I know the reg speaks to information in government real estate records and security interest filings being publicly available information, but I don't believe this is intended to mean customer loan numbers. Does anyone else record the customer loan number on public real estate documents? Am I missing something, or is this indeed a privacy issue?
