Please place in correct forum if incorrect:

I've always understood that a bank is only required to keep statements for 7 years for record retention. If we receive a request for statements past that 7 year mark but we have the ability to obtain those statements, are we required to provide the older statements?

An attorney request. Short version- account has a new POA and the new POA is requesting copies of statements because they believe previous POA misused the account.

Do you normally respond to an attorney request without a subpoena? You are under no obligation to produce records for an attorney without one.
