When a corporation files for an assumed name, does that DBA then need separate articles of incorporation?

An assumed name is like a nickname. The corporation wants to do business under a nickname. No new corporation is formed to do that -- it's the same old corporation (or LLC) operating under a different public-facing name. So the answer is "no."
