Every time we pull a credit report as part of our financial due diligence the bureau's sell that information and our customers end up getting deluged with phone calls and offers in the mail from other lenders from every corner of the globe. My latest client said he received 20 phone calls and at least that many mailers in the past 2 weeks. (pulled credit report 2 weeks ago)
The bureaus don't tell these lenders exactly why we pulled a credit report - they just sell the fact that our customer is exploring something in the "lending world" because we pulled a credit report. So that must be the legal "gap" they use.
Any way we can stop this practice from the bureau's ?
Also, I sometimes get a sideways look from my customer when I explain our privacy policy - no information is sold...... yet their door gets beat down by other lenders every time they apply with me or we update our credit file.
