Stockholder is deceased; however, no one is stepping forward to transfer stock. The dividend checks are not being cashed; however, they are not being returned to bank. Estate has contacted bank (2 or 3 years ago); however, has not transferred stock. Should bank esheat uncashed dividends checks older than 3 years? I have looked on website, but unclear how to handle since bank has talked to estate in past 3 years, but there are checks outstanding from 2011. Thanks

If I don't receive a reply from the stockholder or estate, I escheat the stock and any outstanding dividend checks after three years. Is there any documentation of the estate contact? I have had beneficiaries/heirs refuse the stock and dividends because they "didn't want to fool with" reopening the estate. Those have been sent to the state.
