Spider killing gone wrong Using a blowtorch is a little overkill to kill some spiders. His parents won't be thrilled he burnt down their house.

My husband cracks me up...he's developed his own "device" to get rid of spiders for me. He takes a paper towel or toilet paper roll and plugs one end with paper, then puts the open end over the spider until it climbs inside, then quickly plugs the open end with another piece of paper, then throws it into the fireplace and burns it. Works every time! laugh

Does the spider stay in the fireplace long enough for your husband to get a fire going? laugh

how about just taking a big old boot and squishing it? less chance of it crawling around everywhere! I had a hobo spider in my towel once, got out of the shower and wrapped it around me and the spider fell out. talk about heart attack!!!

My husband agrees with Joker - he will release them outside. I dislike them intensely.

We were researching wolf spiders because we've had a couple in the house (and they're big) and one of the things we read says that they can be carrying hundreds of baby spiders on their back and if you squish the momma, the babies all scatter. That's one reason not to take this approach.

Not sure i know what a 'hobo' spider is. I'll kill a black widow, fiddleback, or wolf spider on sight....i don't kill grandaddy longlegs though.

you have to look for the tiny bindle over one shoulder and they're generally found riding the rails around the country

I only kill black widows and scorpions. I've never seen a fiddleback but I'm sure we have them around the property. In

Bugs aren't all bad. They serve an important purpose.

Hobos are poisonous, if you get bit the venom can rot your skin! I just don't like bugs in general. Particularly when they're poisonous!

They are freaking awesome. Hit them with a flashlight at night in the barn and suddenly there are 1000's of eyes looking at you...like little diamonds laugh!

I have hoppy spiders in the house and they are most welcome smile

Pulling people out of the ditc...
spiders don't bother me, but MsGilmore screams when she sees one...so...i then have to do something to get rid of them. Freqently i just catch them and throw out back to live another day and eat some bugs...but if it is the wolf spider acting as baby transport, they get sprayed with Bengal roach spray, which kills momma and babies in about 30 seconds...

Dood...this almost made me faint...

My philosophy is...you enter my house, your life is forfeit. Although odds are in the spider's favor due to the fact that it takes me a while to work up the courage to take action. Lots of time to escape! haha

Way, way south.
I believe the Wolfe spiders each [censored] roaches, so I don't kill them if I come across them. I'd rather have a couple spiders than multiple [censored] roaches, because in FL, they are unavoidable.

Only 6 of them are legs, the front two are "feelers". They also don't have segmented bodies.

Any where but work
Ironic that ya'll are talking spiders. last night my husband took two pieces of folded paper out of his shirt pocket and put them on the kitchen counter. I come along later and am trying to de-clutter the counter. Pick up the folded papers and out comes a black fuzzy spider, he got away to live another day; where is the tempo spray. Told my husband after screaming like a little girl that his Halloween prank sucked and almost gave me a heart attack.

It took me a minute to figure out why something was censored! Good one. Although, I wonder...if you type it as one word: cockroaches.

So glad you clarified that because my mind came up with a different, yet entirely appropriate censored word.
