My Ma's favorite is roasted root veggies with orange, honey and harissa. That is what I make.
I also make: shrimp remoulade (appy), artichoke gratin, creamed onions, and peas (for my boring son).

My momma's meat stuffing, we are 100% French so I'll let your minds wander to how flippin' yummy it is!

We have cheesecake and apple pie instead of pumpkin pie. No green beans or yams, instead we have asparagus, artichokes, and au gratin potatoes.

Our pies were always Lemon Meringue and Banana Cream. I had never had pumpkin or pecan pie until I was married and away from home.

That sounds good. Cornbread stuffing gets boring. Could your comment possibly come with a recipe??

I make a pecan-apple pie that my husband insists be part of every Thanksgiving. I also have a soft spot for a basic sweet potato dish - simple, just butter and brown sugar sprinkled on it.

My father's stuffing... I have been making it for years and my niece and nephew rave about it every year.

Is there an actual difference between stuffing and dressing, or is it just where you come from?

Stuffing is the stuff that is inside your clothes when you are dressing.

One Food Network Chef once explained that stuffing is cooked inside the bird. If you make it as a casserole, it's dressing. So technically, when I had too much stuffing and put it in a pyrex dish to cook, it magically turned into dressing!

See I will NOT put it IN the bird. Only separate....and we've always called it dressing...never stuffing [which is somewhat obvious as to it's intent] smirk

That is never going to fly in our Central NY house. It's always going to be stuffing, like the article said just make it sure it is delicious smile

How is the gluten vs. no gluten issue caused by stuffing the bird?

Unless you use gluten free bread like we do. Then you can stuff it in.

Broccoli-cheese casserole. Incidentally, that's what I make for our family dinner. I look forward to it every holiday!

In Northern Minnesota we've always called it stuffing, even though we actually stopped stuffing the bird years ago. wink It's kind of like the whole hotdish vs casserole debate... grin

I'm not typically a fan of green beans but can't get enough of the green bean "hotdish" on the Thanksgiving table!

Well not really...you are in NY, so it's stuffing regardless of where it lies , in our outside of the bird smirk

It will always be dressing in the swamp. smile
