My SIL makes that - it IS really good!!

INE, if you'd like to share that recipe, I wouldn't say no!

as long as there are mashed potatoes, hot dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie with cool whip to put on top, i'm happy. any food outside of those is just bonus...

Where I am supposed to be
This year I will be smoking a lamb roast and a pork loin roast for Thanksgiving. Will be injecting and seasoning today and letting the meat sit for a day or so before I begin smoking it about 6 AM Thursday morning. We will also have sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and scalloped potatoes.

Will that be in a pipe or are you going to roll them?

Nobody here grills or fries their turkey? My family likes the traditional baked bird on Thanksgiving which is good because then I can use the carcas to make soup stock. But we often grill turkeys, especially during the summer. Just can't make soup from smoked bones.

OOOOOOklahoma
We fry a turkey at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I bought an indoor electric turkey fryer last year. It's fantastic. It's so fast and easy. And the turkey is delicious.

We usually grill our turkey and I still use the carcass for soup.

if there is a Popeye's Chicken near you, give them a call. they deep fry turkeys and then freeze them, so you only have to carve it and warm it. Here in the deep south, where we fry just about everything, there are a large number of stores that specialize in fried turkeys, and i've had them from at least 6-8 different places, not a single one is as good as the one from popeyes...same with ones we have fried on our own, can't match what popeye's does...in short, if turkey was crack cocaine, popeye's would be my dealer...

The nearest Popeye's is across the river in north Texas (about 45 minutes from my house, and i love me some Popeye's)....but we get free turkeys from our employer and i figure they're not going to take my turkey and fry it....i'm thinking they want to sell me the whole thing. I see their advertisements for selling Cajun turkeys, but haven't seen them advertise the deep-fried ones...but it's something i'll keep in mind.

out of the frying pan...
Fried turkey here, too. We bought the propane fryer set up years ago and use it for WAY more than just Thanksgiving. We use it for frying anything that is going to be a large batch or needs a big pot, and it doubles as an excellent peanut pot for boiling. smile

ETA: We also use the propane pot for frying/boiling anything that would stink up the house if we cooked it inside like fish or collard greens.

Any where but work
Very traditional menu oven roasted turkey, dressing (yes I put it in the turkey), red potatoes mashed with cream cheese and sour cream, made from scratch gravy with potato water and turkey drippings, sweet rolls, vegetables crudite', ranch dip (we are from SW KS after all), fall sugar cookies (baked and decorated by us), apple turnovers. As grandpa from Hee Haw would say, Yum Yum!

Red potatoes are the worst for mash. Yukon gold or basic russet are the way to go. Trust me, I'm from Idaho, so I know my potatoes smile
