A firm that offers home-ownership and/or credit counseling. Send a letter along with your check that states the funds are to be used for that purpose.

We make an annual donation to an organization promoting business development and retention in LMI areas in our AA. We also donate to several medical foundations that provide free or reduced cost medical care for LMI individuals (uninsured or on Medicaid).

If you can verify that agencies are in LMI neighborhoods or serve LMI populations, you can look for Boys and Girls clubs or senior centers. Another good one is to sponsor a Junior Achievement team or program.

Look at CRA PE's. Oftentimes the examiners will detail what type of donation and the reason(s) why investment credit was given to a financial institution.

Would donating to an organization that provides students food for after school count? The students are within the school district that is in our assessment area and over 50% are on free or reduced lunch.

Yes...we often contribute to "Backpack" programs that provide students with access to healthy meals during the weekend. Eligibility is typically based on free and reduced lunch eligibility and often referral by teachers or counselors.

Community Action Agencies usually have multiple programs that support LMI folks.
