long dark unmonitored ally ways are the best places to get a solid gold Rolex!! Or a bloody nose and new wallet of your choice to replace your old one.

Thanks Skittles!
Remember to come back, Justin, and let us know how it went and what you would have done differently We are thinking of heading into the city just for the day (ok, maybe two! ...depends on grumpy Mr Turtle.) and seeing the Statue of Liberty. It's on my son's must-do list and he is bummed that every vacation we plan does not include her.
We are going to be upstate next year and I think he would enjoy the train into town. And we'll get the trip to the SoL (see what I did there?) outta the way. If we had a chance to do two things, I think he'd like to see the Library or an Art Museum. We'll see.
Have fun and enjoy the food! And I second KB's dress idea. My non-dress wearing 14 year old took that piece of advice last June and was not sorry. Easy to pack too.

I thoroughly enjoyed Wicked...but we also saw when it first came out with the original cast...I would pick a musical over a play, been to both, musicals are much more entertaining...you can try for cheap tickets in times square day of, also look online for serious discounts...

Skip Joe's Pizza. Overrated, overpriced, mediocre pizza with bad service. I don't care how many celebs have eaten there.

BoM is Book of Mormon. I prefer Lion King, but everyone I know who has enjoyed Wicked, loved BoM.
Sleep No More is a great time. It's hard to say at that age. If you're open minded and would be ok with a very spicy take on Macbeth (Depending on what part of the McKittrick Hotel you wonder off to, performers are scantly dressed or even not dressed at all), it could be fun. Then again, I know some parents who would absolutely not bring someone at that age any where near there.
Sorry that I can't help on the hotels. I've never really needed one during my time here.

Drinking places? McSorley's Ale House, 7th St and 3rd Ave. Two kinds of beer, light and dark. Been there since before the Civil War.

Went to NYC in November. The Stardust Diner was fun. The wait staff are people trying to make it big on Broadway and perform Broadway songs throughout the evening and the food was decent.

Since the title is called "New York City advice" I will add
The bum with the sign that states it is his birthday and give him money has had a birthday more times in 1 year than Peepers.
The next bum with a sign to give him 35 dollars for a hotel room, If there was a hotel for $35. it would have been posted here already.
Some bums make $200 per hour begging.

What is this peanut butter pie everyone keeps talking about? If it is anything like what I'm imagining in my head, it's definitely something I'm going to have!

One thing we saw that was a little off the main attraction list that we really enjoyed was Riverside Church - the bell tower was fantastic.
Hotel - I can highly recommend Park Central Hotel. It's located just a few blocks from Central Park, directly across from Carnegie Hall, and just a few blocks from Times Square and right at a subway stop so transportation anywhere is pretty convenient. Rates are very reasonable for central Manhattan, and the rooms are very nice.

Deeq - have you been up to see it? I saw an article and it looks awesome...and price is comparable to Empire State Building as well.
