We have a customer who opened a sole proprietorship and stated because she was using her name no Business Certificate was required, however; her business titling is:

Jane Doe
D/B/A Jane Doe Art

Does the fact that the word ART is added mean that she must obtain a business certificate?

(I'm aware that if she were a sole proprietorship under he full legal name, she would not need one)

For us, DBA's are required to register in the town in which the business is located, not with the SOS. The majority issue business certificates.
