It really does feel like a heat wave. After the first day of windchills of -40, the windchill on my lunchbreak a couple days ago was -14 and it felt glorious!

If the temperature is below 20 and the wind is blowing at 10 mph or more, i don't want to be outside at all.

For the love of all that is good and holy - Why do we have to play games with our clocks!?!?!? Just pick a time and leave it alone. I'll have to drink 3 pots of coffee a day just to survive this week.

Yeah, i'm more in favor of staying on daylight savings time......just never revert back to standard time.

I'm in favor of never changing the time again. Just keep it on daylight savings.

I'm fine as long as it stays like it is now. Getting home in the winter in the dark is no Bueno. I'm not crazy about going out to the barn this time of year in the morning in the dark either...but it's the lessor of the evils, IMHO.

For DST, I propose moving the clocks back 23 hours. It has the same effect and we would get a longer weekend. Tweak leap day and the seasons will stay in alignment. Or just implement it at 4pm on Friday instead of 2am on Sunday. That way, we'd still go to bed at our normal time on Saturday night and still get up at our normal time on Sunday.

If your business (i'm actually thinking of schools here and figuring that the desire for bus routes not to be run in the dark any more than necessary is a prime concern for them) needs to--just adjust your work hours for specific times of the year, i.e.:
For these 5 months, school hours are 8:00-3:30.
For these 4 months, school hours are 9:00-4:30.
That would accomplish same goal without everybody having to adjust their watches (and lives) twice a year.

I guess with small kids...that might not work....if parents have/think they have to be at bus stop with them. Oh well.

Considering it wasn't invented for the benefit of children at bus stops to begin with, that really shouldn't matter I don't suppose.

OR, everyone could just do their own time...sort of like traffic in a 3rd-world country.

I remember in 1973 we had year round daylight savings time because of the energy crisis. I remember getting on the school bus in the pitch black.

I remember that time as well. Only our schools shifted schedule by an hour so kids wouldn't be getting the bus in the dark. As a teenager I loved it because I could sleep in an extra hour. (Gave me extra time to drink my Tang!)

This ^^^ But I have to say that I prefer doing barn chores in the dark while it's getting lighter (morning) to doing barn chores in the dark while it's getting darker (evening). I saw a headline recently about FL possibly voting to adopt DST year-round!

They did. But what I read is that apparently in 64, I think, is when Hawaii and Arizona [part] opted to stay with Standard Time year round...it will take congressional approval for states to change to DST...but the POTUS has signed something potentially authorizing it to move further.
Don't quote me...but the above is something close at least to what I recently read.
