Looks like you have a lot of great sites listed. Be wary, though - Central Park may take you longer than you anticipate. We LOVED it and went twice.

if you are running short for time little Italy and Chinatown can be combined as a lunch and dinner (either or) thing as they are that close and that small. St Pats and Rockefeller center are close as well also in the area if you are into church buildings http://fapc.org/know/historyt is just a short walk from st pats.

Thank you! That's exactly the information I'm looking for. I'm trying to combine things based on location.

Here's how I have it right now:

Day one: Empire State Building, Times Square, Pasticeria Rocco (I want that peanut butter pie) during the day and the Rockettes (Radio City Music Hall) at 8 p.m.

Then on the next day, we have the 9/11 Tour from 10:30 to Noon but nothing else scheduled that day.

Next day is Today Show, St. Patrick's Cathedral during the day. Then dinner in Little Italy and Wicked at 8 p.m.

Next day is Central Park for the whole day.

Last day is SOL/Ellis Island until noon and then Chinatown.

I feel like my scheduling could use some work. I can't change the Rockettes, the 9/11 Tour, the Today Show, Wicked, Central Park or SOL. But everything else is manueverable. Anyone want to help a gal out and give me your thoughts on the best way to do this? I'd even send ya a spreadsheet with the activities already in it. You just have to move them around! smile

Chinatown

everyone needs to go here once open 24 hours.

Be sure to go to the basement and not upstairs

My favorite place has unfortunately closed

Would you do Little Italy after the 9/11 Tour maybe?

I added WoHop to the list.

I have not been here but the wife and daughter (7 years old at the time) liked it

http://guysamerican.com/

The review have not been good though it is good for tourist type of food.

Everything in the area requires a reservation as most who go to the theater eat in this area.

A little further is the "Koreatown" section of NYC. 10-15 min walk from theater district.

http://www.kangsuhrestaurant.com/

A little pricy but outside of San Francisco (Possibly DC) finding this type of food is rare.

Grand Central is an impressive building, but you know what it looks like from the movies, so I wouldn't say it's a "must." If you're near it, pop in. But there are dozens more attractions to see, too, and you're just not going to see everything in a few days.

Lines at the Empire State Building are way shorter when you go later in the evening, and just as fantastic of a view. We went after seeing a show and walked right through and out to the viewing decks. Not a bad walk from the Times square.

If you have time, the Tenement Museum is fantastic too, and then stop for yummy popcorn next door at Pop Karma.

Pulling people out of the ditc...
several of the subway lines converge at GCS, just take one of those and run up real fast and look at it, you don't really need to spend a ton of time in there...

I notice you have no pizza places listed, shame shame.

carriage ride - meh
Zoo is really small, i'd suggest Bronx zoo instead

I also notice no deli is listed, THIS IS A MUST (I am partial to Katz's)

Brooklyn Bridge walk? Wall Street? (not far from 9/11 memorial so just add some additional hiking). I suggest getting to empire state building early to avoid lines

Visit the Food Network and look at some of the places they visit in NYC or Man vs Food.

I would think Pizza is a must.

Nathans on coney island too.

Never been to NYC, but it looks like a must to me.

Grand Central Station doesn't take more than a quick stop in, but I definitely would if you are in the area.

Deli's are a must, we loved them.

If you are by any chance going to the top of the Rock, do it at night, but after you go to the Empire State Building. The view of with the lights is fabulous. I think we would have enjoyed the view from the Empire State Building more, if we hadn't already seen the view at night. We went to the Empire State Building early and the lines weren't too bad.

Chinatown and Little Italy are right next to each other. We did a walking tour of Soho, Chinatown and Little Italy.

people laying in the street are most likely not dead they are just bums. If you give them money they will want more.

The guy sitting on the curb next to the light pole with the sign stating that today is his birthday has more birthdays than Peepers and most likely smells like his bath mat near the toilet.

I think the observation deck at the new One World Center is now open, highest one in NYC. I would opt for that over Empire or The Rock. I've done both of the latter, I would avoid Rock in lieu of one of the others

I had the exact same line up when I took my daughter to NYC last March. Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island is just two blocks from the 911 museum. We did it all the same day and worked nicely. I decided our first trip to NYC was the "touristy" trip. Hope you have a great time. We sure did. And we were masters of the subway by the end of the stay. Make sure to download a subway app. Lifesaver.

Make sure you wave at me if you see me walking by!!

Be careful with the costumed characters in Time Square. They can get rude if you don't tip them for taking a picture with them, but they are not allowed to demand money. Best to keep clear of them if possible.

when you walked by a bedraggled looking man mumbling to himself, don't assume it is a homeless person, it could be your friendly edAudit that is bemoaning the lack of affordable parking as he trudges 27 blocks to his office after parking his 1974 jeep Waggoneer...
