The 2018 Modified LARs were posted on Friday. https://www.consumerfinance.gov/about-us/newsroom/hmda-modified-loan-application-registers-released/

When I looked up my bank, there was another bank with the same name. In the past, it displayed your respondent ID so I was able to find my bank's data easily. Now it displays the LEI under the bank's name. I had to look up my bank's LEI to find my data.

I decided to look at our 2017 modified LAR and see that they list an incorrect respondent ID for us. When I access the 2017 modified LAR, I can see our correct respondent ID is in the file. I don't remember the respondent ID being displayed incorrectly when the data came out last year. I wonder if the CFPB/FFIEC altered the database.

If anyone else notices something similar for your bank, kindly post a comment. Thank you.

I don't see mine at all for 2017 and I do know it WAS there. None of those ID's are mine.

What did you do, just open them all up to look for yours?

All I see is 1111's, 2222's, Exempt and txt data delineated by "pipes". What good is that for the public?. I can't even read my own data. They changed our 2017 ID reference from the old 5 digit # to the RSSD number 6 digits. Both are/were associated with our bank - we changed over to FDIC end of 2017. I don't use the 5 digit # any more in Compliance work. That original number I have always associated with our Bank (all branches) at the Bank level. The one they have there now (RSSD #, is specific to our main branch) makes me a bit confused over the whole thing. All I know is we've been through 8 exams with the old number. I'll be sure to ask them next time they come, why it was changed to the RSSD number. I don't think I'm going to worry about it too much anyway.

Thanks for pointing out the RSSD ID. That is what is showing for our 2017 data but a different number displayed when the 2017 modified LAR was released last year.

Can someone point me to a resource to tell me what the field headers are for the public data? I can guess on many of them but I'd rather not guess.

I too was just exploring the modified LAR's and I agree, if we can't figure this stuff out how is Joe Public supposed to?

IR, thank you for sharing the field headers.

Searched by name. The LEI was shown for my bank.

The "modified" LAR is the pipe delimited data. Not very useful to really anyone in the public eye.

Both last week and today mine will only open in Notepad. It's a total mess!

It's not too hard to c/p the data into excel and do a text-to-columns. Then again, it would also be pretty easy to provide the data in a more user friendly format.

The CFPB pushes out unintelligible data, then my IT dept blocks me from accessing the link you provide here and so I guess I'm screwed.
