I know that is a very basic question but I have been out of HMDA for over 16 years and I hope it stays that way! We will be building a new branch in a county that I know borders an MSA and the county in which we are building has had a lot of growth over the last several years. I guess a better question would be, "How do I find out what counties are included in the existing MSA?" Any help is appreciated.

got an address either for your new branch or a building next to it? Load it into the FFIEC Geocode tool and you should get your answer.

Choose a geography for corresponding delineation: in this field choose the option for Metropolitan counties by state

Thanks Dan. When I use the link you provided, looking up Jackson, TN it does not include Gibson County. But based on the following Gibson County seems to be included:

It looks like Gibson County was added to Jackson MSA as of Sept 2018.

So which do I go by?

From the link I provided: Statistical areas are defined (geographically delineated) by the Office of Management and Budget in bulletin no. 18-03 issued April 10, 2018,

If you have more current information than April 2018 then I would use that data.

The OMB is the official source, and the file at https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Bulletin-18-04.pdf is the most current delineation.
