Actually, it was more likely a crop scientist studying fertilization and kernel development. And before I am dubbed a nerd (which likely is far from the truth)...my BIL and niece are both agronomists.

crop scientist and dweeb scientist are interchangeable per the synonym dictionary of interchangeability...

as far as nerds status, pretty much anyone who denies their nerd status is a nerd...that is the unwritten rule of nerdism, as adopted at the Geneva Convention of Nerds in 1983, and reaffirmed at The Hague, The Netherlands, in 2001

If you got kicked out of your dorm by an Alpha Beta, you might be a nerd.

If you know the value of Pi beyond 5 digits, or celebrate Pi Day every March 14, you might be a nerd.

Ahhh - Star Wars Day - that's my birthday - but I was here first. Ha! And yes, I am a nerd.

Also - our grandson is scheduled to be born (via C-section) on May 5th. He'll be a Cinco De Mayo Baby!

Might want to park your Tesla a little further out in the driveway instead of the garage...

Tesla claims the cars are less likely to catch fire? I swear about every accident reported in the news involving a Tesla, the Tesla catches on fire. Could it be a design flaws in the batteries or battery placement in some cases?

It is crazy, huh? Tesla cars are amazing, and I just saw this morning that they now have a new efficiencies that will give them a range of 370 miles. That's truly a long distance and makes them even more competitive with ICE vehicles, but these fire issues really need to be investigated and resolved because those fires burn at crazy-hot temperatures.

My thought is with the increase in EV's, that if McDonald's or other entity that's at almost every exit along most highways would install one or two EV charging stations they would attract so many travelers now and in the future. They could even charge a fee for the EV charging and I think that people would still use them just for the convenience.

well, i drive at least once a year to visit my parents, and they are 525 miles from me, and i also love doing long 3-day weekend trips of 500+ miles, so 370 miles isn't really a major improvement to me, let me know when their range exceeds 700 miles and i might start to consider...

Happy, what about your bike? Bikes have a range limited only by you and all you need is to throw a couple of inner tubes and power bars in a backpack. laugh

haha...if i was going to ride the 1050 mile round trip to my parents, my entire week off would be taken up by that, so essentially i'd be there for one night to sleep then turn around to start riding home...

But you'd be saving the planet! wink

Another random thought: Has anyone else's patience level been so reduced by technology that you get frustrated if a web page takes more than 1.5 seconds to load?

Don't take my awesome business idea! I was going to set up coffee shops with chargers along highways. And the name - Recharge. laugh

Tesla owner here, EV chargers are EVERYWHERE. 75% of hotels have at least one, a lot of major shopping centers. I have never had an issue finding a place to charge my car. Road Trips do take a bit more planning, but one thing I've noticed is that on major routes, Tesla places super chargers at very convenient intervals. A supercharger can take my Model 3 from a basically dead battery to full in about an hour. What I find myself doing is topping off at a charger for 20-30 minutes. Another Tesla owner I know is taking a trip from Texas to Virginia this summer and has planned the charging stations they will be stopping at along the way. Its pretty amazing!

Why do some parents (and even league officials) in Little League get so worked up over a 9 year old - 12 year old game? I promise - no kid is getting a scholarship to play baseball today. Let them play, let them learn, and let them have fun. I'm a coach and sometimes I just want to pop those parents in the mouth!!!!!!
