Is an NFIP policy required to put the NFIP policy # on the binder? We have one that we aren't sure if it's NFIP or private and the agent isn't giving us a straight yes or no.

Well, they cannot bind an NFIP policy as they have no authority to do so, that might answer some of your questions.

Is it possible you intended to refer to the declarations page (versus "binder")? I ask because I've occasionally heard folks at my FI colloquially (incorrectly) refer to myriad insurance documents as "binders".

In any event, as Randy pointed out, the NFIP does not recognize binders. If you have a declarations page, however, you can look for the HFIAA Surcharge and Federal Policy Fee among the charges detailed in the premium calculation. These charges are associated with NFIP policies.
