Who files the CTRs at your Bank? Does the BSA Officer?

Our CSRs and branch managers complete them, and send to the BSA Officer who reviews them, makes any corrections, and then files them.

Tellers prepare it, another teller reviews it; then sent to the BSA officer for discreet filing (no batch filing). YTD have filed about 300.

Head Tellers prepare it, send it to my compliance specialist who reviews and files. I, as the BSA Officer, do a periodic review of the CTR filings to check the work of my specialist.

We are starting to Batch File with this 'conversion". Does this affect who is filing? We are a two person department and this has now become our responsibility so just wanted to inquire... Figuring on the Compliance Assistant reviewing and me doing a the FIling.

It doesn't matter who the files the CTRs for batch or otherwise as long as that person is authorized and has been assigned a pin. You will most likely really like batch filing.

At my previous employer the tellers prepared the CTR and sent them to me (BSA Officer) to review and file with FinCEN. But we only did half a dozen CTRs annually at most, so it wasn't much of a burden.

Our teller supervisor (also designed BSA Administrator) files the CTRs and I as BSA Officer do a review monthly to check her work.

Our automated system prepares them for us and the BSA Department files them via that system. Because we could possibly be missing some info we need, we do have an internal from for branches to fill out so we can obtain that info.

Each branch completes their own CTR's and we have three teller supervisors who do a second check to make sure it was completed correctly. I do not complete any CTR's, but my job is to make sure that they get done.

Our tellers are only responsible for communicating reportable activity to me, the BSA analyst, and I ultimately create and submit all CTRs to FinCEN. At the end of each month, I provide a BSA report to our BSA officer summarizing this activity.

The Teller Supervisor and the BSA Analyst trade off. Week one, the Teller Super checks the CTRs for accuracy and the BSA Analyst files them. Next week, they switch roles. I only jump in if someone is on vacation, etc. I do spot periodic spot checks for accuracy. We batch file about a dozen per week.
