If a customer makes their payment on the 31st (due on the 1st), is anyone considering this payment to be made within 30 days and not reporting them delinquent to the credit bureau? Do you count the 1st as day 1 or is the 2nd day 1? According to the Metro 2 guidelines, they should be reported as a 30-59 delinquent. Asking because we recently switched Cores and the old one did not report them and the new one does. We've had some customer get really upset with us because they are used to sliding under the delinquency radar by paying on the 31st. " I made my August payment in the month of August." It's probably more of a training issue in educating both the staff and the borrowers that they need to pay by the 30th but was wondering how other FIs are handling payment made on the 31st.

They are 30 days past due according to the “Industry Standard for Reporting Account Delinquency”. Not much you can do.

The customer contracted to pay on the 1st and gets hit with a late charge sometime during the month every month if he doesn't pay until the 31st. I wouldn't worry too much if he always pays 30 days late 7 months a year. He's trying to game the system and he's being hoisted on his own petard.
