we have a borrower who is scheduled to close tomorrow. became aware this morning that the co-borrower is in the hospital. not sure of the circumstance behind the hospital stay. borrower requested the loan closing to be conducted at the hospital. I think that if co-borrower is of sound mind and has not had any medications that would impair their ability to think clearly we could proceed. any advise on how to proceed with this loan would be appreciated.

Option 1 - hire a notary go to the hospital and close the loan. Likely additional cost that will necessitate redoing the CD to capture.

Option 2 - have the co-borrower give the borrower POA and proceed with the closing wherever it was originally going to be.

Note: Notary will still be needed at the hospital to witness the POA. Every hospital normally has somebody in house who is a notary and can witness. A hospital notary is not capable of doing a loan closing tho.
