Does anyone know if a bank can charge for paper statements in WI? At first I was thinking no because it is a required disclosure we have to give, but in researching, everything keeps stating it falls under state law. Also, I did not think you could force a client to do eStatements and then penalize them for not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I surely don't see anything. But unless your competitors are doing it is seems counter productive to charge a separate fee. Just charge a monthly service charge and give them a break on that if they choose e-statements.

If your are worried about it, call your Department of Banking directly or talk to your State Banking Association and get their take on it.

There is not a prohibition in WI of charging a fee for paper statements. It is pretty common especially if you do not charge for on-line banking.
