Hi everyone,

I need help settling a dispute regarding the 'account number affected' field on a CTR.

Here's the scenario:

A long time customer with a personal and business account relationship brought in 5 transit checks (checks not drawn on our bank) and wished to cash them. We cashed them and wrote her personal account number on the back of the checks for recourse purposes.

The total of all 5 transit checks triggered a CTR. When the CTR was completed they did NOT enter the customers personal account number on the CTR since it did not affect her account. Is this accurate? Or do we need to include the customers personal account number on the CTR?

The party type is associated with the person involved in the transaction(s) (50, 17, 23, or 58) and the account number for the cash in or cash out for the person involved in the transaction(s) is known.

There was no account involved for the person.
