The bank wants to close some drive-throughs. Does anyone have a checklist on what is required as far as any requirements like notification that you can share? TIA

Any notification requirements will vary by state law. Check with your state banking association.

In light of the pandemic, you might want to reconsider closing drive-through teller windows. As an at-risk "older American", I've recently (in hours) become MUCH more interested in services that do not require face to face contact. Likewise, as a teller I would be much happier smiling at my customers through a window--out of cough and sneeze range.

exactly the opposite happening here. Banks are closing lobbies but keeping drive-up and ATM open, likely for the exact reasons Richard stated above.

Yeah. Gotta admit I was reading the subject line quickly and inserted the words "all but" in front of Bank's.

At the time I posted above, I wasn't aware that earlier in the day Virginia's first COVID-19 death occurred a few miles away from the bank drive-in ATM where I had just gotten cash. Yesterday, James City County recorded Virginia's second death--and the man lived in a neighborhood served by my branch. It's very likely that one of both of these men banked where I do. For all I care, the bank can close its lobby...I have zero interest in going there in the foreseeable future.

Stay safe, Richard. We old guys need to stick around to remember how things were back when compliance was new.

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
If your drive thru is considered a branch - then you would need to follow your regulator's rules. However, if not, then this is a reduction in services and you should have a procedure to cover this as part of your CRA policy. A good rule of thumb is to follow your Branch closing policy for timing of notices and documentation as to why you are reducing services. I'm afraid I do not have a checklist to send you.

Jumping on Waldensouth's post, there are very few policies that are actually required. Most are there because you need them, but a few are required and a Branch Closing Policy is one of those. Your agency has info with all the details and you need to look at that.

Federal law won't consider closing the lobby a branch closing if you have a full service drive-up, and vice-versa. And you have a lot of latitude on hours. But a real branch closing is a big deal.
