What is the most common methodology that is used by most of you for the average consumer protection compliance audit or review?

Might sort of depend on the population and whether it is large enough to lead to statistical sampling. Otherwise most use a judgmental sampling technique.

Getting on the bandwagon late - sorry.

Some banks break it down into a tier testing. They start with a technical test - seeing if there are any exceptions in a limited scope. If there are no exceptions, the audit ends.
If there are exceptions, then they use substantive testing - a greater population and in more detail.

The OCC recently updated their sampling handbook, which has a lot of useful info. on sampling approaches. https://www.occ.treas.gov/publicati...logies/index-sampling-methodologies.html

Sorry to hop on an old thread. I was told to use the OCC sampling methodology for quality control and that regardless of the sample size the number of items to sample would be 152. Making sure I am not losing my marbles here. How is that possible? Thank you.
