I have always thought that we needed to keep the originals of Promissory Notes and Security Agreements, unlike most other things where an imaged copy is a legal equivalent.

I've researched and it appears that that rule varies by State. Does anyone know what the official rule is for Illinois and where I might find it in Illinois Statutes?

Thanks for any help!!

Search for the Illinois Electronic Signature Law.

From the Indiana Electronic Signature Law:

(b) A contract may not be denied legal effect or enforceability solely because an electronic record or electronic signature was used in its formation.
