We use a third party to print and mail our deposit account statements. Recently, one of our customers notified us that they received two pages of a statement belonging to a customer at ANOTHER BANK with their statement. The pages contained images of the other person's checks.

Obviously, we are doing root cause analysis with the statement printing vendor to determine how this occurred and prevent it in the future, but do we have any obligation to notify the other financial institution that this occurred? Can we even do that?

Since you have no relationship with the other bank, I would think it would make more sense for you to notify the vendor and the vendor should take responsibility for their error and notify the other bank.
