We have 2 sisters that inherited a SFR from their late mother. We are making a loan to one sister to pay-out the other sister. The house is the primary residence to the one who will own the house and who we made the loan to. There was no exiting debt. This doesn't seem to meet the definition of a purchase, refi or home improvement loan. I'm thinking it isn't reportable. I found an old thread on the topic but want to make sure nothing has changed since then. Thanks.

OK
Sounds reportable to me as an "other", since i see no business purpose attached to paying off a sibling. There is no longer a purpose test for consumer purpose loans.

I agree with raitchjay that it appears to be an "other" purpose.
