We have a customer that is threatening to sue because when he makes a mortgage payment online, he isn't provided information regarding what portion of his payment is going to principal and what portion is going toward finance charges at the time he is making the payment online. He said "his lawyer agrees with him".

My understanding is that we are required to provide this information on his monthly statement, but not at the moment he is making a payment, correct?

It is nice his attorney agrees with him. Just tell him show us the law or sue us.

I agree with Randy. Many times people who threaten to sue are just making noise.
