an IRA customer passed away 8/2020. He had his TRUST as named beneficiary of his IRA. His spouse is the successor trustee. She would like us to distribute directly from inherited IRA to each specific TRUST beneficiary and to withhold taxes under each TRUST beneficiary's SS #.

Does anybody know if this is even possible? My understanding is that since the TRUST is the beneficiary of the IRA, the trust is the only entity that we can withhold on. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

The money goes to the trust - what the trustee does with it is up to them. You are not their bookkeeper.
