Looking for the pros and cons of retaining entrances tickets for safe deposit box entrance events.

The "way I've always done it" is to retain all tickets until the box closes, then retain the closing ticket with the closed lease agreement and shred the others. My current institution only retains the most recent entrance ticket, shredding the prior one each time a customer enters their box. I have concerns about this method. Ideas?

Safe deposits box requirements are a State law issue.

We were told we had to retain all tickets/entry cards until 5 years after the box closes. This is in Louisiana.
