We had a customer try and deposit fraudulent checks through the mobile app. Is this a cyber event. I look at the FinCEN alerts and the NIST definitions but can;t find the answer anywhere.

Thanks,

A cyber event involves a data breach, whether it is a customer system (such as email, ID & password, etc.) that is compromised or a bank system that is compromised.

A customer using their own credentials to deposit fraudulent checks is not a cyber event.
A customer's mobile banking ID and password that is hacked and the fraudsters used the stolen credentials to submit fraudulent checks would be a cyber event.

Awesome! I appreciate your answer. Makes sense when worded this way.
