In September, the IRS published a draft new 1099INT. On December 2, they published the new 1099INT with a revision date of January 2022. Do 2021 INT reportable transactions get reported on the the new form, or is that for future use in 2023?

What’s New

Continuous-use form and instructions. Form 1099-INT and these instructions have been converted from an annual revision to continuous use. Both the form and instructions will be updated as needed.

So do we use them in January 2022 to report for 2021?

It is now a continuous use form, which means if you issue a 1099INT you issue the most current form available. However, it looks like they just made this change and that there is still a specific form for filing for tax year 2021. You can tell if there is a specific year printed in the top righthand box. That no longer appears on the 2022 version.
