Hello,

Bit of an odd question, but hopefully a quick one. For any of the HMDA fields that require Alphanumeric data for the data field type according to the FIG, are there any characters outside of letters and numerals that would be acceptable? Case in point, for one of the ethnicity write-in fields the borrower included a question mark. Do we report it as is, or will this return as an error?

Actually, follow up, it seems that the letter the borrower entered was ñ and it came out as a ? on the LAR. What should be done in this instance?

Change it to an "n" on the LAR, which is apparently not tolerant of diacritics.
