For all of you close to the CIP process, how does your CIP workflow work at your institution? Especially wanting to hear from those with a DNA core system.

We have just over $2b in assets and honestly, a tiny BSA department. CIP has got to the point where it is taking up an entire full-time employee because our workflow is so sluggish. We check 100% of new accounts, which includes going into the person's profile, making sure an ID is scanned in, and verifying that all ID information has been entered into our core. If that employee is out for a week, that means that they come back to have to catch up a week. That adds up when every business day of CIP takes from 3-6 hours of uninterrupted work, and we are sometimes perpetually months behind until someone can help us catch up.

This seems unnecessarily heavy and seems like it can be improved. What are your processes? Does your program take up that much of an employee's day?

For CIP the employee establishing the relationship is responsible for verifying the customer's identity prior to account opening, scanning and uploading a copy of the ID to our network and entering the required information into our core and any downstream applications.

We run a weekly report that has missing or inaccurate CIP data and that information is sliced up by the employee who opened the account. AML send a copy of the report to the employee and their manager and they are responsible for fixing the issue.

There have been countless CMPs for this.

Don't I know it. My boss's boss's boss knows it too, but doesn't think it's a problem.

We are about 8b in assets. We have a second check done by management at the branch (which we plan on moving to branch administration), and BSA pulls CIP Exception reports weekly to locate missing or incomplete CIP data. We have two checks on this process. Even with online account opening, we have dedicated branch staff checking all online account openings and BSA running those same weekly reports.

Some of you may look at this as overkill. Before making that judgment, however, don't forget that this sort of control routine can also catch other missing documents and/or errors in account styling, along with stupid little things (not to the customer) like misspelling a name.
