The bank will be moving into a new main office in a couple of months. We need customers to close their safe deposit boxes and move them to our new location. Are there specific notice or timing requirements for this process? Also, what happens if we are unable to locate a customer?

We did that back in 2016 and yes there are timing requirements. They may be state specific. I have to look up the ones for Texas. As I remember we sent at least two letters within a certain time frame just for Safe Deposit Boxes. When the day came to close the branch, the boxes were drilled and inventoried and contents stored securely at the main branch. Customers were sent letters as to where the contents were. Now it has been long enough that some of those contents are going to be escheated to the State of Texas.
