If a Financial Institution is registered in one state and is funding loans in another state, would the Financial Institution and MLO's have to register in those other states? Example we are registered in California and we lending to Members in Texas, would we have to have our MLO's register in Texas? Or since we are Originating in California would that suffice as that is where our main office is located and we do not have offices in those other states?

If you are a Financial Institution, why are you registered at the State level?

My thoughts exactly. So Registering Federal level for our main office is the only registration that we need, correct?

I am not aware of any State that requires a Federally regulated financial institution to register at the State level.

But if you are planning to lend in Texas, you better know what you are doing. The homestead laws in Texas are nothing like anything in the other 49 States.
