If we received an ACH deposit for a closed account (we closed due to loss), can we reopen account to apply funds to what they owe us? Our ACH department is saying that is not allowed, it must be returned. I have looked through the NACHA rules and guidelines and I'm not finding an answer either way.

Appreciate any help on this!

Thank you for your response - but is this in the NACHA rules? I did not see it if it was. I would appreciate some background.
