Hello. Our bank is considering moving from batch to real time and processing dates on weekends, though not open on weekends. Any specific issues to be aware of?

Has anyone who moved from batch to real time processing willing to provide any insight? Anyone processing on weekends? It is a new concept for us and trying to understand implications, (Reg CC, loan payments, posting, et a.) Thanks.

excuse my ignorance, but if you are not open on weekends what will you be processing real time on weekends?

Real time payments are going to be something that most banks will have to be looking at in the near future. Real Time payments are the coming thing.

I guess i still don't understand the original comment, they will be batch processing during the week but real time processing on weekends...FedNow or Clearing House RTP process 7 days a week, not just on weekends. those transactions would need to be real time regardless of the day of the week.

Can you memo post them, but add credits and subtract debits from available on weekends, and batch post them early Monday?

We are looking at this at our shop too. Any regulation issues to process and post transactions 365 days a year?

Reg E will cover the consumer transactions, and then both Clearing House and FRB have their own rules you will need to abide by if you are going to use their service, regarding timeframe for posting, availability, etc. look at their respective websites for what those are
