We recently implemented imaging in our loan dept and in bookkeeping. I know that under IN code an electronic image is acceptable so long as it is legible and retrievable. I assume this applies to accounting documents as well? For example, a vendor might email an invoice to a member of our accounting staff, she imports the invoice into our imaging database. No paper is ever received, printed, or retained. Of course the image is there should it need to be accessed. I just wanted to make sure this was acceptable.

As long as the transmission adheres to the "E-Sigh" rules, I would agree.

Sorry, it should be the "E-Sign" rules, (as I let out a big sigh).
