Incarcerated criminals are not a protected class, but we have lately been deluged with inquiries on loan programs from one particular penal institution. Would we be criticized for not responding or responding with a friendly "please visit one of our branches for information on our many loan products"? I understand that we do not have a problem denying such a loan, but do we have to respond to inquiries like these? These requests for information (not credit) are in writing. You hear about inmates spending a lot of time in the prison law libraries and I don't want them to know of some loophole that we may fall into by not responding. Any thoughts?
