I've always gotten a kick out of the name "The Strawberry Alarm Clock"

A cool band name, i think, is Sixty Watt Shaman. They are a rock band out of Maryland. Influenced by Skynyrd, Sabbath, Hendrix and Zeppelin. Very cool band, I recommend people to check them out if you like that type of music.

Nobody mentioned the Butt Hole Surfers. Honest, it is a band!
I should know--they're from Austin, but I did not want to post it. There was a punk band here whose name was STB, which at one time stood for "Sharon Tate's Baby." Now, that is tasteless. A Christian thrash band from Austin: One Bad Pig. Then, an acquaintance of mine, who had an awful punk band called: The Kamikaze Refridgerators. They had a poster (actually a home made poster from 8 1/2 x 11 paper) with a drawing of an abandoned fridge with sign on it saying: "kids, play here." Tasteless.
Steely Dan is a strange name if you know what it means.
Doobie Brothers--well, I think we know what that means.
Throbbing Gristle
Skinny Puppy (saw it on a t-shirt)
Screaming Cheetah Wheelies (their first album rocked)

Z, since you're from Austin, have you heard of The Reverend Horton Heat? They are a rockabilly band ala Bill Haley, Dick Dale with a touch of AC/DC, Aerosmith and Motorhead. They are a killer band.

Yes, though I've never seen the band. Shame. There was a band here I always wanted to see called the Bustamoovalators. Also, what about the band named after a band in a Monty Python sketch: Toad the Wet Sprocket
Big Head Todd and the Monsters

If you ever get a chance to see The Rev, GO! They put on a great show, Upright Bass and all. You will NOT be disappointed, I guarantee it.

In their song Looney Tune One Bad Pig somewhat explains their choice for the band's name. Of course, they also openly admit that it's a stupid name.

All good ones. What about Alice in Chains, kind of weird.

Thought of another one hit wonder band, the Meat Puppets. Their song was backwater which was pretty good, but never heard from again.....
The bassist of the Meat Puppets recently got arrested for beating up an old man at the post office.

I forgot the band that made me start this thread. I heard a Cowboy Mouth song this morning on the way to work. I thought that is a funny name, since they are not a country band.
