I'll have to admit that when I post a question I hope that one of the people who responds is Andy. If you haven't given me the answer straight away at least you give me a direction to go. That is all I ask. I don't want someone to do my work for me, just a little help. Andy you have been a tremendous help.

Thanks

Andy - actually we have met - it was at the California Bankers Compliance conference in San Francisco a few years ago. I'm usually the one asking the questions the regulators would rather not answer.

Andy, Congrats on crossing another milestone. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom and wit with the rest of us poor, lost, confused, struggling, wisdomless, witless ninnies. We couldn't last a day in this job without your help, your willingness to share and a chuckle now and then. If I contribute 1/10th as much as you do to the industry and this board, I will consider myself a success. Thanks, thanks, thanks!!

Bonnie,
In response to: "I'm usually the one asking the questions the regulators would rather not answer."
You mean there are questions that the Regulators WANT to answer? Which one was that?

Only if the answer is "Yes". You know, they only like to ask the question when they know the answer that they are going to get.

I, too, congratulate you on the milestone. And, let me be the first to thank you, not for the 2,046 posts in the past, but in advance for the next 2,046 posts. I am sure they will be as valuable and insightful as the others.

Keep up the good work. We need all the help we can get.

Congratulations Andy! Someday I hope to enjoy compliance as much as you do (I should live so long). I'm with Leslie & wacokid in wondering where you find the time. Can't thank you enough for all your help.

Congrats from me too! I still remember the day, all those years ago, when I got an email from Andy wanting to start up an email group of bank compliance people to bounce ideas off of each other, after looking though AOL profiles for 'bank compliance'. Look at where we're at now!

That was some years ago. Yes, I was an AOL user once upon a time.

We can all forgive you your prior life as an AOLian. Thanks for helping us all look good when we opine to management. It's about time more BOLians rate your profile with a 5-star click, even though that's not enough to show how much respect you deserve for your contributions to the CO world.

I'm proud to know you as a friend, Andy. Now let me wipe that tear from my eye!

Can't let the opportunity go by without chiming in! Andy, you're great! I'm with the person (several messages up the list) who wishes that you answer when they post a question. It's comforting to know that you understand Texas banking challenges, and can speak to that.

Thanks again! Is there anybody in upper management you'd like us to email for you?

When I grow up, I'll get a 5th star. Remember that famous movie and the little girl who will grow up to the compliance officer at her dad's building and loan. Its Christmas, he is holding her in his arm in front of the tree and she says, "See daddy, teacher says everytime you pass an exam, a poster gets a star".

Phwew! I'm outta breath. I keep runnin and runnin and trying to ketch up but Andy's always up there at the head of the pack. Thanks Andy for all the help you have given all of us BOLers. Your answers are always right on target. We all appreciate your invaluable contributions. Thank good ness for BOL - it has changed the compliance playing field. I remember the old days when all you had was your reference books and a few old friends to count on.

I couldn't wait until tomorrow (when I have my password handy) to pass along this article on the Brazilian American WildLife Society (BAWLS) and the drink of the same name (even though the drink has never used the society name). From today's San Jose Mercury News

http://www.bayarea.com/mld/bayarea/business/3842507.htm

Hope you find some soon. The article says it can keep computer addicts awake for gaming binges 15 to 24 hours straight. I wonder how long it would work on compliance binges.

You know.... - three shots of Turkish coffee will do about the same thing.

Rule of thumb on caffeine - the finer the grounds and the longer the water is in contact, the more caffeine you will get. That's why a regular filter-brewed cup of coffee has more caffeine than espresso. A cup of French-Press and percolated coffee has more than filter brew, and Turkish coffee has the most.
