I'm at a loss to explain this, but we're getting calls from military personnel claiming we can't charge foreign ATM fees or account servicing fees for their checking accounts. I take it from posts here that other banks are getting the same questions. Are you all telling military customers no when they ask? Just want to see what everyone's doing in regards to this.

IMO you can charge your regular fees. If you are close to a military base the calls are coming from. Contact the base legal office and explain you are getting these calls and ask if they are telling people this. If they are, ask them where in the regulation this is so stated.

Maybe they are confusing the fee with a finance charge.

I honestly believe many myths start and snowball and some folks figure there is no harm in asking. These are not protected under any interpretation I know of.
