Hey Maria, I'm headed out to a party, first New Years' Eve out in 3 years (children tend to damper party plans) . It's only the next town over so it should be fun. How about you?

Pulling people out of the ditc...
Big party, but no hangover intended. I generally only drink 1-2 beers, never any hard liquor, and I seem to develop the headache when drinking, not after.

I am staying home with my son and fiance, my son turned 9 yesterday, so I promised him a special taco dinner for New Years Eve.

Actually, I think the last time I made it until midnight on New Years was Y2K, and that was only because I was on the bank's response team in the event the world ended...

None of these answers quite fit my plans, which basically involve board games, snacks, and karaoke with the kids. I was thinking about selecting the 'Big Party' option, but the 'hangovers' part doesn't fit. Then I wanted to choose 'Staying home with family' but with seven children, the 'nice and quiet' clause certainly does not apply. So I'm stumped.

State of confusion
We have 6 couples that all got poolside rooms together and we are all bringing our kids to a hotel to have a fun, relaxing evening where nobody has to drive. We decided to make it a family event last year and are taking it a step further this year by making it the kids' holiday!

Bought a bottle of non-alcoholic wine (THANKS DAWNIE), and I'm going to be having a leg of lamb and some good eats with my closest friends, their 6 year old daughter and the spoiled brats I call my children! (Yes, they were bad this morning!)

I don't remember the last time I went out New Year's Eve!!??? hmmmmmm..... Anyway, just spending a quiet night at home with my little family. My son has not been feeling well the last few days, so he is my priority.

I'm the only single female in my group of friends. They prefer to live vicariously through me- so they are counting on me to live it up. I may go out with good intentions but might have to resort to going home early and embellishing the details of the evening!

I am driving up to the Pocono Mountains in NE Pennsylvania to my brother's house. We are staying in, having some good food and good wine.

All over the map.
Try this site. I sent it to my hubby and he can't wait to start cooking with the new Emeril cookware he got for being such a good boy this year.

Seafood recipes

BTW, we will be staying in. T-girl has about 8 friends coming over. (This is the first year it will be co-ed! ) So I'll be cooking up lots of snacks and cutting up lots of confetti, and breaking out the fireworks that we saved from the 4th.

Buy some Chilean Sea Bass and put just a little of your favorite spice on it. It's great with anything from lemon pepper to cajun spice to sweet chili sauce.

Just bake it!

I know it sounds kind of corny, but we liked it so much last year, we are doing it again.....going to a party at a bowling alley. We have 16 people in our group and will have 3 lanes. They will have a DJ, food and 5 hours of open bowling. It's a blast! Just good fun...for adults and the kids!

We have a group of couples we get together with nearly every Saturday nite and generally someone has a New Years Eve party. This year is it at our condo, about 4/5 couples, my homemade chili and cornbread and food to share. Maybe a movie (I vote for Finding Nemo) and a toast with ice tea or cola at midnight. Now if my 6 year old dog just doesn't bother everyone too much!!!

Continuing a family tradition, we all stay home for New Year's Eve and we order take-out Chinese food. Ever since the kids were tiny we have done this and our oldest is now in college. We will either watch movies or t.v. if anything good is on. We generally watch the "Peach Drop" from Underground Atlanta on our local station. Egg Nog (no nog) and Sparkeling Cold Duck for toasts all around. HAPPY NEW YEAR

My church has a "Watch Night" service every New Year's Eve from 10:00-12:00. A group of us usually go out to breakfast afterwards.

We're going to friends for a wine tasting and dinner. Dinner will be served around 10, so it will be a late night. Then I have to get up in the morning and rewire some stuff and drywall. I suppose I should avoid the hangover if I'm going to play with electricity.

Runswithscissors - We love to watch the Peach Drop, too. We toyed with the idea of going to Underground a few years ago, but we've never actually been. I just like to stay at home.
