I need clarification as to who needs to complete the Reg B Intent to Apply for Joint Credit information. Does this need to be completed every time that two or more people are applying for joint credit (regardless of whether they are married)? Or does the Intent to Apply for Joint Credit only need to be completed when a married couple is applying for joint credit? Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

If the intent of the applicants is to apply for joint credit, that fact must be documented. This applies regardless of the applicnats' relationship and to both consumer and business credit.

It applies anytime there are two or more people applying for credit whether or not they are married. However, it does not include guarantors and cosigners since they are not considered "joint applicants" as defined in the commentary to Reg B.
